BROOKS, KY (WAVE) - Bullitt County officials have identified the woman killed in a crossover accident on I-65 near Brooks, Kentucky Saturday night as 37-year old Jacqueline Keith of Jefferson County.
Deputy Coroner Glenda Heath says Keith died instantly when the Hummer she was driving crossed from the northbound lanes of the interstate into the southbound lanes and struck a semi truck head on. The driver of the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened at 8:20 p.m., and the Interstate was closed until nearly 3 a.m., according to Bullitt County dispatch officials.
This was the second fatal crossover accident on I-65 in Kentucky in two days. On March 26, 11 people died when a semi truck crossed the median in Hart County and struck a van, killing 10 people in the van and the driver of the truck.
In that accident, the truck plowed through the cable barriers designed to stop vehicles from crossing the median. In the Bullitt County accident Saturday, there were no cable barriers to prevent crossover crashes.
Keith lived off Third Street Road in southern Jefferson County.
The Bullitt County Sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the crash.
