LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The coroner's office has identified the victim in an early Sunday morning hit-and-run. The victim is 48 year old Mary Marie Perry.
Police have arrested a man for the murder of Perry. Police say the man was not the driver of the car that struck Perry but was fighting with her in the street prior to the accident.
According to Louisville Metro Police, they received a call of a hit-and-run in the 2400 block of Broadway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival they found Perry in the street, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
After further investigation, police found that Perry had been involved in an altercation with Kenneth Jones, 54, before she was struck.
Police say, Jones was fighting and kicking Perry in the middle of the street, and as she was crawling away she was struck by a tan Pontiac traveling east on Broadway.
Police say, Perry and Jones had been living together for at least two weeks.
Police have charged Jones with murder and intimidating a witness. Investigators have recovered the car involved in the hit-and-run but are still searching for the driver.
The coroner says Perry died of multiple injuries.
The accident is still under investigation and anyone with any information is asked to call 574-LMPD.
