FREDONIA, KY (AP) - The Western Kentucky Correctional Complex in Fredonia, KY that has housed men for 32 years is now receiving female prisoners.
On April 5, fifty inmates from the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women near Louisville were relocated to Fredonia. The next day 65 prisoners from the Otter Creek Correctional Center arrived.
Deputy Warden Steve Woodward says the transition of over 200 female prisoners has gone smoothly.
One of the inmates was sent back, but this was due to the Western Kentucky Complex not being handicap accessible.
