ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – A scary accident on I-65 has landed three men in the hospital.

It happened Saturday morning,  State Police say a Honda Civic, driven by 20-year-old Anthony Butera of Hendersonville, TN, suffered rear tire failure, causing it to spin 180 degrees and collide with a guardrail. The car was then struck head-on by an oncoming semi. The vehicles traveled a short distance together, before coming to rest across all four lanes of traffic.

Butera and 19-year-old Jeremy White, who was riding in the back seat, were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. A front seat passenger, 21-year-old Christopher Hewgley, was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

The driver of the semi was unharmed.
