LAPORTE, IN (AP) – Thousands of Indiana residents may soon be losing their unemployment benefits.

Indiana Department of Workforce Development spokesman Marc Lotter says that, come May, 15,000 Hoosiers could lose their weekly unemployment checks if Congress does not pass an extension upon its return from spring recess.

According to the National Employment Law Project, almost 1 million people nationally would lose benefits at the end of April without another federal extension.
