MAYSVILLE, KY (AP) - Federal officials are praising the construction of a plant fueled by methane gas collected from a nearby landfill in northeastern Kentucky.
The new plant is the sixth methane gas facility erected by East Kentucky Power Cooperative, the Ledger Independent reported.
Victoria Ludwig, program manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Landfill Methane Outreach program, traveled from Washington for a dedication in Maysville on Wednesday.
Ludwig told officials in the county that they're persistence in getting the plant was "impressive."
