Trial set in western KY shooting death

MURRAY, KY (AP) - A western Kentucky man charged with murder in what prosecutors called a hired slaying case has been set for trial in May.

The Murray Ledger & Times reports that Brock Riley Ramey of Murray is scheduled to face trial May 4 in the death of Jerry Eldridge of Almo in October 2008 and of wounding Eldridge's son and the son's girlfriend.

Ramey's ex-girlfriend, Jacqueline Phillips of Murray pleaded guilty earlier in the month to facilitation to murder in a deal that requires her to testify against Ramey.

Ramey was indicted on charges of murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree burglary, and two counts each of first-degree assault and tampering with evidence.

Phillips is to be sentenced May 24.
