FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Funeral arrangements have been made for Alexis Neace, a 13-year old Anderson County Middle School student who was killed on I-64 last week.
It was storming on the evening of May 21 when Alexis and her friends were walking across I-64 on their way to a Walmart when Alexis was struck by a car. She died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Alexis grew up volunteering at the Stewart Home, a special needs school where both her father and grandmother worked.
Although she was only 13, Alexis left an imprint on the hearts of dozens of special needs women that knew her.
Before she was killed, Alexis had been looking forward to being a cheerleader next year, after being told she had made the squad.
The family has had to deal with the difficult task of making the funeral arrangements, but say they've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity from the community.
Harrod Brothers' Funeral Home in Frankfort will provide the funeral service free of charge. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Farmdale Baptist Church in Frankfort, and the funeral will follow on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
