LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The University of Louisville men's basketball team is in the spotlight - and not for a good reason. Police are questioning Preston Knowles after he was apparently involved in an argument with his girlfriend and her stepfather in Bullitt County in Sunday night.
According to Lt. Scotty McGaha wit the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, Knowles and his girlfriend were arguing on May 23 about a hairbrush when her stepfather intervened. In the police report, Knowles claims he was pushed before exchanging blows with his girlfriend's stepfather.
"Apparently, they were in a verbal altercation there at the residence," McGaha said. "I understand it was a fight, a confrontation over a hairbrush."
Both parties were expected to give written statements to the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office on May 26.
The County Attorney will review those statements and the evidence and decide whether or not to file charges - which could include misdemeanor assault.
Knowles will be the Cards' second leading returning scorer, averaging seven points a game.
UofL officials say that they are aware of the incident but have no comment at this time.
