ANDERSON COUNTY, KY (NEWSCHANNEL) - A family outing ended in a nightmare for one central Kentucky family on Thursday.
Travis and Tonya Farley and their two children, 6-year-old Noah and 4-year-old Kristen, spent three terrifying hours trapped inside their boat as it teetered on the edge of the Lock No. 5 Dam in Anderson County.
Travis Farley says the boat kept throttling off as they approached the dam.
"It slammed into the dam sideways. I threw it in reverse and then it just got stuck. I thought it was going to come loose any minute," he explained.
Rescue crews from three counties devised a plan to save the family, using rafts tethered together.
Once on shore with his wife, children and their dog, Farley said he considers himself the luckiest man in the world.
