Injured baby gorilla moved to new home in Ohio

LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - A baby gorilla that was injured by its father is improving, but has been moved to the Columbus Zoo.

Baby Misha was born at the Louisville Zoo in February. She was badly injured in April by her father, a 22-year-old silverback named Mshindi, and she lost part of her leg that was damaged beyond repair.

WAVE-TV reports Misha was moved to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio on Monday where she will be cared for by a surrogate mother and family.

Workers from the Louisville Zoo who have been caring for Misha went with her. She will continue to be monitored around the clock to ensure a smooth adjustment to her new home.
