LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville supporters united against what they described as the "dangers of offshore oil drilling" Saturday. Those involved held hands at Cox Park on River Road as part of the International clean energy event called "Hands Across The Sand." Thousands of people participated across the country as a sign of solidarity. Supporters said offshore drilling puts oceans, marine wildlife, fishing industries and coastal economies at risk.
The mission of Hands Across the Sand is to encourage policy reform that reduces America's dependency on fossil fuels and increases clean energy use.
Hands Across The Sand is endorsed by national environmental organizations including Greenpeace, MoveOn.org, Friends of the Earth and Clean Energy.org.
