Police indict man for 8 homicides, dating back to 1996

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man is behind bars facing charges of 8 counts of complicity to murder. The Jefferson County Grand Jury returned indictments, Wednesday, against 39-year-old Ricky Kelly.

LMPD detectives said Kelly had been behind bars since 2006 for an unrelated weapons charge. Lt. Barry Wilkerson said Kelly was involved in the 1996 murders of Gale Duncan, Deron Cole, and John Sanders. The 1998 murders of Charles Lewis and Blair Kidwell. The 2005 murders of Craig Jones and Laquantae Jackson. And, the 2006 kidnapping, robbery and murder of Warren King. Wilkerson said the department is in the process of notifying the families of all eight victims. Wilkerson said they got a break in the unsolved homicides, once the department formed a Cold Case Squad in 2008. Wilkerson would not go into details about the cases, possible motives, or how they were able to connect Kelly to all eight homicides. Detectives are still interviewing and following leads. If you have any information call 574-LMPD.
