On Tuesday, October 5, Louisville Metro TRIAD will host the 10th annual Senior Day Out, an event that draws more than 1,500 local seniors each year.
For the past nine years, Senior Day Out has provided Louisville area seniors with valuable information and services. At this year's event, seniors will receive free health screenings, information from local business and service providers, a complimentary lunch, door prizes and more. Guests will enjoy live entertainment as well as Bingo.
Since the KIPDA region is home to more than 166,000 seniors, Senior Day Out is an important community event for local seniors.
"Senior Day Out is one of many ways we support Louisville area seniors, a population that is steadily growing," said Cindy Venable, Director of the Louisville Metro Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens. "This event is a fun, easy way for seniors to connect with their peers while gaining valuable information and health screening."
Senior Day Out is hosted by Louisville Metro TRIAD, a grassroots partnership between local law enforcement, representatives of senior groups, service providers and community volunteers with a mission to inform and protect Kentucky Seniors.
Many other local organizations and businesses also join forces to support Senior Day Out 2010. Sponsors for this year's event include Louisville Metro Government, Passport Advantage, Kentuckiana Regional Planning & Development Agency (KIPDA), Today's Transitions, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
"Last year's Senior Day Out featured 18 sponsors. In addition there were nearly 60 exhibitors that provided guests with information and health screenings including flu shots," continued Venable. "Each year, many of this region's key organizations pool their resources to create the most informative environment possible, which is one reason why this event is so successful."
Senior Day Out is scheduled for Tuesday, October 5 at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Registration begins at 8:00 am followed by activities, guest speakers and informational booths. Entertainment and Bingo continue until 1:30 pm. Seniors must register by September 18 to receive a complimentary lunch.
