Metro officer attacked by alleged jumper

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville Metro Police officer is hospitalized after he was cut with a knife on the Second Street Bridge.

Metro Police say an off duty sergeant was jogging on the bridge just before 7:30 Sunday night when he saw a man he thought was threatening to jump over the side.

Police say the officer called to him and the man ran into traffic. The officer tackled the man to stop him, and the two fought. The officer was cut with a razor blade knife.

Police say both were taken to University Hospital, the officer's injuries aren't life threatening.

The man he thought was jumping is being checked out and we're told charges are pending against him.
