BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Boone County man will be tried a year from now in the shooting deaths of his parents.

A Boone County court set the trial for 39-year-old Michael E. Moore on Wednesday for September 2011.

Moore is charged in the June 2009 killings of 66-year-old Warren Moore and 65-year-old Madge Moore in their home in Union. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, tampering with evidence, falsely reporting an incident and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Police believe Michael Moore shot himself in the leg and groin, then called 911 and told a dispatcher someone came into the house and began firing.

Warren Moore was the city administrator and former mayor of Union, which will name its city building in his honor on Sunday.
