SHEBLBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Jefferson County high school teacher and basketball coach is facing charges after being pulled over for drunk driving. Kentucky State Police arrested Matthew Lemon on Interstate 64 in Shelby County July 30.
Lemon, the Seneca boys basketball coach is facing seven charges including DUI, reckless driving, failure to render aid and leaving the scene of an accident. Lemon was arrested after police say he crashed into an oncoming car.
According to the arrest report, Lemon fled the scene and was later arrested on I-64 while changing a tire. At the time of his arrest, police say Lemon had a blood alcohol level of .205.
Lemon, who was booked into the Shelby County Detention Center, is free after posting $500 bond on July 31. He will be back in Shelby County for a hearing on August 31.
A spokesperson for the Jefferson County Public Schools said they are aware of the charges, but no action will be taken at this time pending the outcome of the case.
