Jeffersonville official charged with drunk driving

Jeffersonville, IN - JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Peggy Wilder, the current Clerk-Treasurer for the city of Jeffersonville in Clark County, Indiana, was arrested for driving under the influence early Wednesday.

Wilder was pulled over by an Indiana State Trooper just before 2 a.m. on Aug. 11 at U.S. 31 and Court Avenue in Jeffersonville. She was taken to the Clark County jail. Maj. Chuck Adams says her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.10 percent.

Wilder faces a preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was released around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Wilder has been under investigation since she was accused of using her city issued credit card to make personal purchases.

In a previous version of this story, we erroneously reported that Wilder is the current Treasurer of Clark County, Indiana. That position is held by someone else, and Wilder works as Treasurer for the city of Jeffersonville only.
