LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It's a summer tradition for many Kentucky families: the Kentucky State Fair, and we wanted to know how much it will cost to have a little fair fun.
The cost starts adding up as soon as you drive onto the fairgrounds. Parking this year is $8.00, up $2.00 from last year. Then, of course, you need a ticket to get in. If you didn't buy in advance, that's another $8.00; tickets for kids and seniors are $4.00 each.
"Admission prices are the same this year as they've been in the past. That's not changed at all," Vicki Glass with the Kentucky State Fair Board said.
Prices for the fair, the fun, and the food can add up. For example, we found a slice of pizza sells for $4.00. The new, loaded "donut burger" is $8.00.
Ride tickets are $1.25 each. It will take four of them, or $5.00 for a spin on the Ferris wheel. Fairgoer Adam Howell took his family of four. "They enjoy it, we have a good time. It's worth it; we have fun," he said.
The gates open at 7 in the morning and close at 9 at night. Exhibition hours are from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The thrillway is open from 2 p.m. to midnight during the week and noon to midnight on the weekends.
