LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The budget hole for the state of Kentucky has gotten 100 million dollars deeper.

Governor Steve Beshear said that when the state budget was put together he didn't want to assume that the federal government would be giving the commonwealth any more money to support Medicaid.

The general assembly went ahead and anticipated receiving more Medicaid money and passed a budget estimating Kentucky getting over 230 million dollars in federal Medicaid funds.

Now that Kentucky is expected to receive about 137 million dollars in federal Medicaid dollars it leaves the state with 100 million dollar hole to fill.

Governor Beshear has asked two legislative work groups to review the budget in hopes of making up the difference in other ways.
