Perry Co. judge stabbed while eating lunch

HAZARD, KY (AP) — A man who once stood before Perry County Judge Leigh Anne Stephens is in jail on an attempted murder charge after stabbing her at a local restaurant.

Authorities say Ronnie D. Brock attacked the judge Friday at the Circle T Restaurant in Hazard with a steak knife and stabbed her five times before bystander Victor Gainer shoved Brock through a window, then sat on him until Perry County sheriff's deputies arrived.

Stephens was treated at a local hospital and released. She tells WLEX she's lucky to be alive. She felt her attacker cutting her arm and shoulder but didn't realize he had a knife.

Brock appeared in Stephens' court in 2004 on a domestic case.

It's unclear whether Brock has an attorney.
