SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A WAVE 3 viewer called our newsroom after he noticed something "fishy" going on at the Salt River near Highway 51 outside Shepherdsville.
The viewer said there were several dead fish popping up all over the river. WAVE 3 went to check it out, and sure enough we found plenty of dead fish.
We wanted to know what was making the fish die. We did some digging and contacted the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department.
Officials say that they became aware of the situation two to three days ago. They say the dead fish are isolated to one species...called "suckers".
So far, they believe it's weather related due to the lack of rain.
