LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A jury has sided with a former track and field assistant coach on her claim that the University of Louisville athletic department retaliated against her for complaining about a hostile workplace.
Court records show Mary Banker was hired as the only female track and field coach in September 2007. Banker says over the next year she was given extra duties like baking cookies and setting up party tables and told to bat her eyes and flip her hair. Banker claims fellow coaches said offensive things about women.
Banker says she complained to human resources and several weeks later found out her contract was not being renewed.
Friday a jury awarded Banker $371,000 in damages.
