MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA (WAVE) - Nearly 140,000 Hyundai Sonatas are being pulled off the roads.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says this recall affects sedans manufactured since last December. The agency believes an issue with the steering column could diminish a driver's ability to steer the car.
Hyundai dealers are promising to inspect the affected parts and update the power steering software for free.
The recall is expected to start in October, and it follows a federal investigation last month of this steering problem.
The Sonata is produced at Hyundai's factory in Montgomery, Alabama.
