PERSONAL: Hill was born in Seymour, Indiana. He is married to wife Betty and they have three daughters and one granddaughter. Hill was an outstanding athlete while in high school and is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Hill was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1982-1990. He ran unsuccessfully for the U. S. Senate in 1990. Hill was elected to Congress in 1998. He was re-elected in 2000 and 2002. He lost his re-election bid to Republican Mike Sodrel in 2004 by fewer than 1,500 votes, but reclaimed the seat in 2006 and was re-elected in 2008. Hill is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition in Congress.
THE 2010 CAMPAIGN: Hill easily defeated four challengers, getting nearly 30,000 more votes than his nearest challenger, John Bottorff (37,493- 7,628).
