Homeless Task Force suggests zoning plan for homeless shelters

Louisville, KY -

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - There are new recommendations for a zoning plan for homeless shelters in Louisville.

The plan being proposed by the Homeless Task Force would put a limit on the number of beds, parking spaces, and signage at homeless shelters.

The plan comes after a controversy involving the location of Wayside Christian Mission after it moved its shelter for women and families from Market Street to a former hotel on Broadway.

Homeless shelters currently are not included in the city's zoning codes.

The Metro Council is considering the proposal and could suggestion revisions.
