LEXINGTON, KY (AP) - The earliest known published account of the art of science and horse training is about to be reprinted in an English version.
Called The Kikkuli Text, the manual was first translated from German to English more than 30 years ago.
This second reprint is a project of Keeneland and the King Library Press.
Keeneland says in a news release that the German text had been housed in Keeneland's library, and Gerhardt Probst, a professor at Transylvania University in Lexington, translated the text from German to English so it could be offered to the public in 1977.
Copies will be available this fall.
The horse training program is more than 3,000 years old and was named after a horse trainer who used the method for war horses around 1345 BC.
