Louisville, KY - LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a 62-year-old man in a shooting that left a Louisville teen dead.
Police were called around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 to the 200 block of South 41st Street, just blocks from Shawnee High School. Investigators say officers found 15-year-old Andrew Elliott of Gheens Avenue dead in an alley.
Police arrested Archie Ashley around 2:30 a.m. Oct. 10. According to a police report, Ashley confronted three juveniles he says were throwing rocks at his home and vehicle. Detectives say the third time Ashley approached the group, he fired two shots from a revolver. One of the bullets hit Elliott in the back, killing him.
Police also say Ashley tossed the shell casings, then hid the weapon in his bathroom.
Ashley is charged with murder, two counts of wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence. He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections pending arraignment.
