MORGANFIELD, KY (AP) - Officials say a Waverly man has been charged with murder and arson in the death earlier this month of a 23-year-old Morganfield man who was beaten unconscious then lit on fire.
Kentucky State Police and the Union County Sheriff's Office say 22-year-old Timothy C. Devine was also charged with tampering with physical evidence in the death of Michael R. Wolfe.
Stephen Shouse, the Union County coroner, said earlier that an autopsy revealed Wolfe had been knocked unconscious by several blows to his head and a flammable liquid had been poured onto his chest and ignited.
The Gleaner in Henderson reports the coroner said Wolfe died from "thermal damage to his airways."
Police said Wolfe's mother found his body at his home on Oct. 4.
