JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A jury in Clark County has found 63-year-old Charles Sparks guilty of molesting three young girls for more than a decade.

Sparks was charged with six counts of child molesting, one count of sexual misconduct with a minor and one count of child seduction involving three sisters. He was found guilty on all charges except child seduction.

The girls were ages 6, 9 and 11 when Sparks began molesting them in 1997 and continued the abuse up until a few months before he was arrested.

Detective Charlie Thompson with the Jeffersonville Police Department says the alleged abuse happened almost every day. According to court documents, Sparks sexually abused one of the girls as recently as five months ago.

Court records show the girls who are now in their 20s, tried to come forward in 2001, but that case was dismissed in Clark Superior Court.

The probable cause affidavit also stated that two of Sparks' alleged victims recorded him apologizing for the abuse and the pain he caused them. The tape was given to investigators and played for jurors.

All three women testified at Sparks' latest trial.

Sparks was working as a custodian at Parkview Middle School when he was arrested in 2008.
