LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Eagles played at a sold out KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night.
More than 22,000 Eagles fans watched them play hits like Hotel California. It was the first big performance since the arena opened.
Before the big night, Louisville leaders warned fans to leave early in order to find a good parking spot downtown. It seems many people listened.
John Harris who lives in Williamsburg, Kentucky said he arrived early. He is staying at the Galt House and parked there. He said he is used to chaotic traffic because he has visited arena's in other cities.
Other said it went smoothly to find parking because they left early.
Meanwhile, Courtney Sandora, who was downtown to watch a performance at Actor's theater, lives downtown. She lives more than 4 blocks away from the theater. She said she is thankful she does not have to worry about traffic and is excited to see foot traffic.
"It's great seeing all the restaurants that have opened up and the energy has been fantastic," Sandora said.
Besides the Eagles playing at the KFC Yum! Center, Actor's Theater, the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, and the Louisville Palace had events at 8p.m. To help with the traffic, the Louisville Metro Police Department had about 40 officers and 45 crossing guards. Police carried hand held devices, which they used to control street lights, if necessary. With those devices, they were able to extend a green light on streets like Jefferson, Main and First.
