CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Police plan to resume the search of East Fork Lake in their hunt for missing Covington teenager Paige Johnson.
Officers say they plan to return to the lake Tuesday morning around 9 a.m.
Johnson was last seen four weeks ago in Covington with Jacob Bumpass. Police have turned the search to East Fork Lake because cell phone records show that Bumpass' cell phone was near the lake the night that Johnson disappeared. Bumpass has not been charged with anything relating to Paige's disappearance. He is behind bars for an unrelated parole violation.
Captain Teal Nally with Covington Police says that earlier this month, parole officers found dried blood and two latex gloves in Bumpass' kitchen sink. Police say the blood has not been forensically tested to see if belongs to Paige.
"I definitely think in some way he is tied up with Paige's disappearance," she said.
According to police, Bumpass told investigators he dropped Paige off at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 23 near 15th and Scott streets in Covington. However, investigators traced signals from Bumpass' cell phone, showing around 1 a.m., the cell phone pinged from a tower near Florence, then around 4 a.m., his cell phone pinged from a tower near East Fork.
Previous searches of the lake by police, as well as Paige's family and friends, has not yielded any new clues to the girl's disappearance.
