LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - With just days before Decision 2010, we are continuing to watch the candidates. On Oct. 24, the men contending for Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District faced off in Louisville.
Democrat John Yarmuth, the current seat holder, and Republican Todd Lally talked issues at Adath Jeshurun during a forum hosted by Louisville's Jewish Community. The debate ranged from health care to diplomatic efforts with Israel. We talked with the candidates about their last few days to get voters on their side.
"The poll that came out recently is completely off," said Lally. "After three weeks of being on air, forum after forum, debate after debate, there is no way it is spread. We have internal polling that show it's within single digits. We've had it for awhile. We didn't release it because we didn't want to give them a change in strategy. We are very comfortable with where we are at."
"I'm not sure that I'm not in jeopardy until November 2nd, you never know until the polls close," said Yarmuth. "The ability to touch so many people in this community in four years, I think insulates you towards national trends. If people think they know you, you care about their lives and you are willing to listen to them, then that means more than any ad or voting record."
Both candidates will continue to meet voters throughout the week.
