New details about the murder of a Hardin County husband and wife

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - New information came out, while in court, about the late September murder of a Hardin County husband and wife. Wave 3 was in the courtroom on Tuesday as Erik Buggeland made his first appearance on murder charges.

Doctors Terje and Margaret Buggeland were murdered September 21, inside their Hardin County home.

Their son Erik, who's in his 30's, had been living with the two, and took off in his parent's car.

Police immediately began looking for him, but wouldn't call him a person of interest or say how the two died.  Erik was later found in Tennessee on September 29, and shortly thereafter was charged with murder.

We learned from court documents that Erik beat his mother to death, and stabbed and beat his father to death.

Erik did speak out in court.

"Can I say one thing judge, I'd like to enter a no plea, a no plea. I'd like to enter a no plea instead of a not guilty or guilty plea," said Erik Buggeland. "I'd like to enter a no plea so I can talk to my counsel and not this public defender. I'm going to get a new one and I was wondering if that was possible that I have three months for an arraignment and have as much time as I want to speak to a public defender."
