Man dies after being hit by car on entrance ramp to I-65N

Louisville, KY -

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man was killed early Wednesday while walking on an entrance ramp to Interstate 65.

It happened just before 8 a.m. on the I-264 East ramp to I-65 North. That's where police say a woman driving a 1999 Kia Sportage got nervous when a semi got too close so she swerved, striking the pedestrian who was in the emergency lane.

LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain says the impact knocked 46-year-old David Alan Lego to the pavement below the overpass. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A silver Pontiac minivan registered to Lego was found nearby on I-264.

The LMPD traffic unit is investigating, and Klain says she was not aware of any pending charges against the driver of the Kia.
