LEXINGTON, KY (AP) - A manager at the University of Kentucky's Center on Drug and Alcohol Research has been charged with growing marijuana at her home after firefighters responded to a blaze there.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports 51-year-old Tracey Ellerbe entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday to the charge.
Fire officials were called to her home Monday after a neighbor reported seeing smoke. A police citation says the Lexington Fire Department responded and found more than 40 marijuana plants. According to fire officials, Ellerbe had installed grow lights in her attic, which overloaded a circuit and caused the blaze.
A UK spokeswoman told the newspaper that Ellerbe is the community-based services manager at the center.
She is scheduled in court again on Nov. 16.
