LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Crews from several southern Indiana fire departments are still battling a fire on the town square in Paoli, IN.

Firefighters were called out around 7:25 a.m. on a report of smoke coming from the eaves of the Old National Bank building on the west side of the square. Soon after arriving on the scene, Paoli Volunteer firefighters requested help from all departments in the area. At this time, firefighters from 12 different departments are on the scene.

In addition to the Old National Bank building, the block houses the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, several businesses and has 27 residential apartments. The American Red Cross is assisting approximately 10 families that have been displaced by the fire.

WAVE 3 photojournalist Nick Goldring reports that firefighters are having problems with low water pressure. Tankers are bringing in water from outside the town to help fight the fire. Paoli residents are being asked to conserve water while crews battle the blaze.

Goldring also said that a backhoe has been used to bring down part of the building. According to a fire department spokesperson, crews will allow the main body of fire to burn itself out.

No injuries have been reported.
