MEDORA, IN (WAVE) - The search for the body of 18-year-old Andrew Compton was halted Tuesday due to wet weather. Compton was a freshman studying culinary arts at Sullivan University when he went missing Oct. 28. Police arrested 40-year-old Gregory O'Bryan on Nov. 9 and charged him with Compton's murder.

An arrest report indicates Compton at first told police he picked Compton up at Sullivan University and took him back to his apartment on Lucia Avenue on the evening of Oct. 28, and that Compton left on his own. After investigators searched O'Bryan's apartment, however, he changed his story and told police that Compton died during sex.

Police began searching the landfill in Medora early Nov. 9 after O'Bryan told them he disposed of Compton's body in a dumpster.

LMPD spokeswoman officer Carey Klain says crews continued searching late into the evening on Monday in anticipation of Tuesday's rainy weather.

Klain says the search will resume as soon as weather permits.
