LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - After taking a year off , The Mint Jubilee party is will be back in 2011. The black tie Derby eve gala was canceled in 2010 because of a disagreement between the organizers and the University of Louisville.
2011's party will have a new look, new sponsors, and will be held in a new venue.
"We will be holding the event in the Palace Theater," said Matt Battaglia, the Mint Jubilee's co-founder, "right here in downtown Louisville. We want to give our attendees an experience like never before."
In years past celebrities such as actress Valerie Bertenelli, football player Warren Moon and boxer Evander Holyfield have attended. No word yet on who's coming in 2011, but Battaglia did hint at a performance by Cirque Dreams.
Funds raised at the jubilee will still go to fighting cancer, but 2011's benefactor has not yet been announced.
