BONNE TERRE, MO (KFVS/AP) - Authorities say two children were found unharmed after a gunman killed three people before shooting himself near an apartment complex in eastern Missouri.
The shooting happened Tuesday morning at Boulder Creek Apartments in Bonne Terre, about 45 miles southwest of St. Louis.
Bonne Terre Police Chief Doug Calvert says he found a woman and her boyfriend dead inside the home, along with a small child who was unharmed. He found a second woman in a nearby sport utility vehicle, where she apparently was trying to protect a small child who also was unharmed. The two children were boys ages three and 18 months.
The victims are a 25-year-old male, 37-year-old female, 19-year-old female, and 32-year-old male.
Police say the suspected gunman killed himself in nearby woods as police closed in.
Investigators say domestic violence is suspected because authorities had been called to the apartment in the last week or two.
The shooting happened near North County High School, which was on lockdown until authorities determined there was no threat to students.
