David Williams

Louisville, KY -

David Williams joined the WAVE 3 News team in November 2010. Originally from Beltsville, Maryland, near Washington, DC,  David grew up with the Nation's Capital as a backdrop.

David says the most influential people in his life are his parents. David comes to Kentuckiana from Waco, Texas, where he worked as a reporter and video journalist in the Killeen newsroom of KWTX.

While in Texas, David covered some of the most memorable stories of his career. On November 5, 2009, David was one of the first reporters to cover the Fort Hood Massacre. On that day, 13 people were killed and more than 30 others wounded in a mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, the largest military installation in the world.

On Nov. 5 and the days following the shootings, David did live and taped reports for television and radio stations across the United States and even BBC Radio in London, UK. David's coverage of the shootings helped earn the station an award from the Texas Association of Broadcasters.

David is no stranger to the region. Before his time in The Lone Star state, David worked as an Assignment Editor for WRTV, the ABC station in Indianapolis, Indiana. Before that, he worked as a reporter, photographer and fill-in anchor for NewsLink Indiana; a professionally guided newsroom of WIPB-TV. While at WIPB, David worked as a live remote host and segment host for Connections Live!, which one its sixth Emmy Award during his time there.

David was also an intern in the news department of WTVD ABC 11 Eyewitness News in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. There, he gained valuable experience working alongside and learning from some of the best reporters and anchors in the area. He also seized the opportunity to help research and assist reporters in covering the Duke Lacrosse case and former North Carolina attorney Mike Nifong.

He graduated from Ball State University's College of Communication, Information and Media with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications-News. While at BSU, David wore many hats over the years, for NewsWatch, a live nightly student-run newscast. Those roles included News Director, Assistant News Director, anchor, reporter, producer and photographer. The show won its first Emmy Award during David's tenure as Assistant News Director.

David is thrilled to call Kentuckiana home. If you see him out doing a story, or out and about, feel free to say hi! Or if you have any story ideas, feel free to drop him an email or a call.
