Police ask driver to come forward

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - New Albany Police are asking the driver who hit a man on his bike November 29, to come forward.

53 year old Rocky Reid is in serious condition at University of Louisville Hospital.  Police say he was hit when the van was turning right onto Woodrow from Spring Street.  Police Chief Todd Bailey says because Woodrow is a popular cut-through, investigators believe the driver likely knows the area well, perhaps living in New Albany or Floyd County.

Bailey says they're getting a lot of useful information from the public, but because Reid is unresponsive, they need the driver to come forward.

"This could be a horrible accident, and if that's the case, our investigation will uncover that information," Bailey said. "But until the driver of the truck comes forward, or we positively identify him, justice will not be served in this case."

Witnesses tell police the work van had tool boxes on the side.  The driver is described as having a lip ring, and a tan as if he works outdoors.

If you have any information call New Albany Police at 812-948-NAPD.
