LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two local churches remembered the lives lost to violence this year in our community.

The names of more than 50 homicide victims were read at services at the Highland Baptist Church and the Ridgewood Baptist Church.

Pastor Joe Phelps at Highland Baptist Church says it's a way to commemorate victims lives.

"We know that Christmas time is always a sentimental time and we think everyone of those crosses representing a family that is without someone they love," said Pastor Joe Phelps.

A cross was also placed in the lawn for each homicide victim.
