Police arrest intruder in home of murder-suicide victims

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are investigating after an overnight break-in at a home where there was murder-suicide over the weekend. Police say they got a call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday about a possible burglar at the home on Silverton Lane.

According to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell, when officers arrived at the home, they saw what appeared to be someone holding a flashlight inside. A K9 was sent in and the suspect - 41-year-old, Joe T. Puckett, Jr. - came out without incident.

Mitchell says it appears the Puckett entered by breaking glass in a back door.

Puckett was arrested and charged with burglary.

The coroner's office says 49-year old Terrance Griffaw shot his wife, 50-year old, Debra in the head, then turned the gun on himself.

The couple's son found the bodies early Dec. 5.
