SHELBY COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A standoff situation in Shelby County has ended peacefully. It started around 9 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 2400 block of Frankfort Road and ended around 2 p.m. when the suspect surrendered.
According to Kentucky State Police Sgt. Brian Sumner, around 11 a.m. the Shelby County Sheriff's Department requested help from state police after 56-year-old William H. Cain barricaded himself inside the home.
According to police, it started out as a domestic call and escalated when Cain refused to come out.
Police closed U.S. 60 in both directions for two hours, and nearby schools were alerted (although they never went into lockdown mode).
Shelby County Police took Cain into custody just before 2 p.m.
Charges are pending.
