LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - After 14 years, Louisville Metro Police have gotten a break in a cold case. They have a suspect for two rapes and he was just a teenager at the time.
In 1996, two women were raped in separate incidents. Police say 32-year-old Antonio Carney was the man responsible.
Metro Police were able to the case a fresh perspective thanks to a cold case grant they received in 2009.
"The biggest delay in getting the DNA hit and actually seeking an arrest was locating the victims," said LMPD Det. Brian Sherrard. "Locating the victims took about 18 months. Neither one of them live in Jefferson County anymore,"
Carney is also facing charges of unlawful imprisonment. He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
