Suspect in police shooting in court on cocaine charges

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man charged with shooting a Louisville Metro Police officer was in court on December 13 on unrelated charges.

19-year-old Dante Watts Junior and his father appeared in front of a judge in a drug case. Police say Watts Jr. shot at two plainclothes officers in Portland.  Officers Kevin Speaks was hit in the back and is now in fair condition.

The second officer, Jeffrey Lauders, was not hurt.

Watts Jr. is being held on a $250, 000 full cash bond.
