LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A four year old little boy is struggling to survive a horrendous beating. Louisville Metro Police say he suffered it at the hands of his mother's boyfriend.

"This is unbelievable, unthinkable," says Officer Carey Klain. "It's just horrible, there's no child that should have to deal with this."

Even police officers are having a tough time dealing with this case.

29-year-old Johnny Juliot is under arrest. His live-in girlfriend's four-year-old son is in a fight for his life at Kosair Children's Hospital.

"Most children are looking for Santa this time of year and these children live in fear," Klain said.

Police say Juliot was watching the little boy Wednesday and when the mother returned she noticed he was hurt. The child was taken to the hospital with three skull fractures, and bruises all over his body.

"There is nothing that a four year old could do to deserve any type of assault and this is horrible," said Klain.

It's not the first time Juliot has been accused of a horrible crime.

Two months ago, police issued a warrant for his arrest in Floyd County after his then-girlfriend said he punched her in the head and chest, head butted her, kicked her and then held up a knife and hit her in the back of the head with it.  All of this happened, according to court documents, with the girlfriend's two small children sleeping in a nearby room.

Now he's accused of abusing another child so severely he may not make it.

"We pray that he survives this but these children's innocence is stolen and it's totally unnecessary," said Klain. "If you can't handle a child, if you don't have that self control, don't put yourself in that position."

Sources say the four-year-old little boy was taken to the hospital in Indiana within the last few weeks, showing signs of abuse.

Johnny Juliot was just released from prison in Indiana on charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine in May.
