LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville's last Ford Explorer vehicle rolled off the assembly line on Dec. 16 .

Worker's at the Louisville assembly plant have been manufacturing the Explorer since 1989. Ford Explorer will now be made at a Chicago plant.

Ford said work has already begun on re-tooling the Louisville plant to build the next Generation Escape. The Louisville assembly plant will be shut down for about a year before workers can begin building the new vehicle.
