LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - LMPD's Homicide Unit has formally charged a man with murdering a four-year-old boy.

Johnny Juliot is being charged with one count of murder. Police say an autopsy has revealed that James "Tony" Hack died as a result of injuries received from being beaten by Johnny Juliot.

Police say Juliot was the mother's boyfriend. Hack died at Kosair Children's Hospital Friday with his family by his side.

Friday night, Tony's family spent the evening remembering him.

"He was so loving and so kind," said Cathy Milliner, Tony's grandmother.

Metro Police say the man Tony's mother didn't know well enough was her new boyfriend, the 29-year-old Juliot. He is also a man who investigators tell us tried to strangle an ex-girlfriend just two months ago.

On Wednesday, Tony's mom left the boy alone with Juliot. Police say his abuse left little Tony with three skull fractures and bruises covering his body.

Tony's visitation will be at Spring Valley Funeral and Cremation Services in New Albany on Tuesday, December 21 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. Services will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 22 with visitation an hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery.

Anyone wanting to help Tony's family can make a donation to the James Anthony Hack Fund at any Community Bank location or memorials can be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses and for a memorial fund.
